Firefly Solutions was founded in Kyoto, Japan in 2001 by Susan Schneider. Ever since its creation, it has sought to provide services in translation, editing, writing and mentoring to major houses and educational and cultural establishments.

Susan obtained her first Master’s Degree in Modern Languages Studies at St. John’s College, Oxford, UK and her Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies (with Distinction) from the University of Sheffield, UK. She also Translation Studies from
Inalco, Paris and the highest level (Level 1) of Japanese Language Proficiency Test
(JLPT) under the joint organization and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services.

As a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language, with English for Business Purposes and English for Academic Purpose at the university level and is actively involved in translator training.

Susan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, UK , a member of Association des Traducteurs Littéraires de France (ATLF), Japan Association of Translators (JAT) and of TESOL France (Teachers of English to SLanguages). She is affiliated to the Agessa and is the author of several textbooks bilingual conversation guides for young people.
